The Smart Recycler mechanical project consists of 3 main blocks: Container block, Sorting block and Cover block. The main idea is to separate as much as possible the waste from the hardware components, and to do it the cover block holds almost all the hardware in a chamber at the top, while only the ultrasonic sensor and the motors will be out of this chamber.

The Container Block

The container block purpose is to hold all the waste thrown into the Smart Recycler. It consists of a Square shaped base of 50 x 50 centimeters and 60 centimeters height divided in 4 spaces. The model and the measurements can be seen below.

The Sorting Block

The sorting block is the middle block and it is responsible for the final segregation of the waste being processed. It is divided in half by a center chamber that holds the 2 motors attached to 2 flaps, on in each side. It also contains the 4 ultrasonic sensor responsible for containers level measurements that are protected by a layer. The flaps are built using 6 mm MDF wood.

The Cover Block

The cover block is where most of the action will happen. It consists of a main chamber at the top that holds all the sensible hardware in the project (Microcontroller, battery, camera, led tape, etc...), a gate, the first level flap and the oled screen.
